IAA: What is your music background?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: The ThuroBredz TBC was formed in 2005 by Abraham “I.B” El after his fellow “ThuroBredz,” Andre “Arizona” Allison and Antonio “Showtime” Alvarado went on a hiatus. We started recording music together in 2009, compiling an archive of hit songs, album fillers, mix-tape tracks, and personal freestyles. We released our debut mix-tape, “Thuro Chronicels”1080p HD, which is hosted by DJ Thoro on March 26th, 2011. We performed at over 60 shows from Philly to South Carolina and everything in between, the years of 2010 -2011. We’ve won EVERY competition and contest in Philly that we’ve ever entered including winning an audition to open up for Judah Priest of the late ODB’s Brooklyn Zu.
IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: We want to record and release our own music to show the world what we’ve been through in life. It’s an outlet to release our emotions and to express our struggles and triumphs. We feel as though it’s always going to be someone in our shoes that can relate to us or what we’re saying. Not to be cocky or overconfident but we’re what hip hop needs. We’re that “beautiful balance” if you will. We just want and need to be heard.
IAA: What are your songs about?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: Our songs are about sex, drugs, and rock & roll; you know that life. On a serious note though, our songs reflect our emotions and are about our lives and the people around us. What we see and do every day and what we would like to accomplish are mainly what our songs are about. With 13 members we have a lot to talk about.
IAA: Who is your fan base directed towards?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: Our fan base is directed towards the generation that stands before us and after us, 8 to 80, blind, crippled, or crazy. We’re trying to reach anyone that lives life and most importantly are tired of the same ole’ same ole’ and want that fresh hip hop. Whether it’s someone in college or a mature teenager in high school, our fans are REAL or as we say, THURO.
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: Our musical influences are Wu Tang, Cash Money, No Limit, Ruff Ryders, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Kris Kross, NWA, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, State Property, Boot Camp Clik, Notorious B.I.G, 2pac, Big L, Kool G Rap, Michael Jackson, Ryan Leslie, Jay Z, KRS One, Special Ed, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Lupe Fiasco and the list goes on. Our parents influenced us musically as well, being as they we’re in the “industry” or have musical talents of their own. And anyone that has impacted the culture.
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: Raw, rough, smooth, and everything in between. Our music is outgoing, soulful, energetic and sometimes inspirational. The best way to describe our music is thuro (real).
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artists?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: We are the 13 soldiers of hip hop. There is none like us. We are unique, original, and creative. The energy of our on stage performance most definitely stands out amongst a lot of groups we’ve seen and heard. Besides that, it’s the ability to create catchy melodies with real lyrics and make songs you can learn from, feel good after listening, or bounce to that make us stand out.
IAA: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
THE THUROBREDZ CLIQUE: “Thuro Chronicles” 1080p HD hosted by DJ Thoro is out now; available for download on datpiff.com and various websites. There’s a lot of things going on with TBC, a lot of solo projects coming out from various group members, but the next big push is “Thuro Chronicels Blurred Vision.” “Thuro Chronicels Blurred Vision” is set to drop this winter (2012) along with ThuroBred; Lyfe Of Adon Solo Mixtape “EL.” Stay tuned.
