Get To Know ANTWINE DIXON-Philly’s Uprising Star!
Aug 2011 11

Antwine wants to do what very few artists have been able to accomplish.  He wants to encourage people to go out and  buy his album by sending a message that if you believe in yourself all things are possible. Antwine is also dedicated to giving back to those who have come through the same struggles he has also experienced. He wants to help kids in the system, and young teens who need to be encouraged to follow their dreams. He has a sincere desire to help people that need love, a common theme talked about on his debut album “The Lyfe Of Me”. Antwine hopes to send a hopeful message to his audience,  “THERE’S NOTHING STOPPING ME SO WHY LET IT STOP YOU.”

IAA: What is your music background?
ANTWINE:  Growing  up I listened to  Luther Vandross, Boyz II men, New Edition, The Temptation, Barry White and other oldies but goodies. I started singing when I was 6 years old in my church choir. I knew singing was for me when my choir director told me I had the most powerful voice at the age of six.

IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
ANTWINE:  Music is everything to me. As a child, my grandmother would tell me, “you have one of God’s greatest gifts and you better not let it go to waste.”  When she past, I took a vow to push harder and never stop. After her death, I decided to record and release my own album.

IAA: What are your songs about?
ANTWINE:  The themes of my songs vary from . I talk abot being in love, being motivated, grieving, and partying.  I have songs about being hurt by family, living life in the system, etc.  My songs speak for themselves.  If you listen to them they will tell you a story.

IAA: Who is your fan base directed towards?
ANTWINE:  My fan base consists of anyone that has a dream to a sing, rap, act, model, etc. People who have been through a struggle or have had bad influences in their life can relate to my music. My fans are people that just want to dance and hear good music.

IAA: Who are your musical influences?
ANTWINE: I am inspired by Fantasia, and Jennifer Hudson. Fantasia was a teen mom, became a contestant on American Idol and won.  Jennifer Hudson lost American idol, but she continued to stay motivated and eventually got her chance to shine.  I know that if they can do it, I can do it too.

IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
ANTWINE:  My music is unique. It isn’t the normal r&b/pop that you are use to hearing. When I decided to record the album,  I wanted to go in a different direction. I mixed rock with r&b and pop and created a unique sound.  My music is catchy and after listening to it, I guarantee you it will be stuck in your head.

IAA:  What makes you stand out from other artist?
ANTWINE:  I would say my passion for the music.  I eat, sleep, and breathe music. Some artists are not their authentic selves  when they are  in the spotlight. I’m me, 100% of the time. Whether I am in the spotlight or behind closed doors, I don’t let my music change who I am.  Instead, I use my music to change the world.

IAA: What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?
ANTWINE: I’m currently working with the artist Tru-L  on a song title “Shake Ya Body.” I’m also working on three bonus tracks for the re-release of my debut album “The Lyfe of Me” The three bonus songs are “Back To You,” “Mile Away,”  and “Legacy” . The song “Legacy” has already been released as a single. I am also working on a music video for my newest single “The First Night.”

IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
ANTWINE:  My career goals are to continue to push forward and stay motivated. I want to continue to make good music and give others the opportunity to succeed at their dreams and talents. My goals are to bring everything I have to offer to the table, not only for me, but for the fans and the industry. I see myself successful in the industry making great music that everyone will love. I also see myself giving back to the community, especially to the kids in the system, the homeless and the less fortunate.

IAA: How can your fans access your music and contact you?
ANTWINE:  My fans can access my music and contact me many ways:!/ThE_LyFe_Of_Me
