John “DRA$TIC” Harris Jr. is one of Hip Hop’s most exciting new artists. DRA$TIC, a native of South Central California is a seasoned artist who has been perfecting his rap skills since the age of 13.  DRA$TIC’s unique sound and style puts him into a league of his own. Inspired by the West Coast rap scene, DRA$TIC has the talent, passion, delivery, and rawness to be a major force in the music industry.

IAA:  What is your music background?

DRA$TIC:  I have released 2 albums independently under my own label. I performed at Dodger Stadium and the House of Blues in Hollywood. I got have been featured in magazines such as, Right On, Black Beat, XXL, and The Source. I have also appeared on several compilations, soundtracks and mix tapes with major artist.

IAA:  Why do you want to record and release your own music?

DRA$TIC: When I was a teenager I was around artist such as, Tupac, Tha Outlaws, Ice Cube, Tyrese, Ice T, Cj Mac, Snoop Dogg on their video sets and studio sessions. I was inspired by them at a young age. I am also passionate about myself because music runs in the family. My grandfather is Jack Harris a known bass singer from a group called The Calvanes a Doo Wop group from the 50’s.

IAA:  What are your songs about?

DRA$TIC:  My songs are about survival, inspiration, partying, and things I have experienced growing up in South Central Los Angeles. I want to have an impact on future generations by telling my story through my music.

 IAA:  Who is your fan base directed towards?

DRA$TIC:  All ages, my name is “Dra$tic Khalifah” meaning i have two sides to me. My Dra$tic side is more about the streets and enjoying life in my prime which is more for the ages of 18 – 35. My Khalifah side is the positive side, which is universal

IAA:  Who are your musical influences?

DRA$TIC:  My influences are Tupac & Tha Outlaws, NWA, Ice T, Snoop Dogg, Krs One, Nas, Jay Z, Run DMC, Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, Al Green, James Brown, Luther Vandross and the list goes on.

IAA:  How would you describe your music to people ?

DRA$TIC:  My music is unique, ahead of time, timeless and has a distinctive sound.

IAA: What makes you stand out from other artist ?

DRA$TIC:  I stand out more then other artist because I’m more then just a artist. I know how to make things happen and I am also a business man.

IAA:  What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?

DRA$TIC:  I just finished my Reality LP and released it digitally thru Itunes. I just completed my upcoming album, called Goin Public and I’m looking for distribution for it now. I also have a group of younger artists under my belt that I am developing and molding.

IAA:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

DRA$TIC:  My goal is to drop at least 1-2 albums a year until 2015. I want to get into acting, producing, writing, management and artist development. By 2020, I see myself running a professional production company and management/artist development company. I want to have my own reality show, and I want to give back to the community.
